چکیده

Precoding at the transmitter side has been proved to be a very efficient strategy for channel equalization in single-carrier digital transmission schemes. It enables the application of coded modulation in a seamless fashion. A drawback of precoding is that the signal at the input of the decision device exhibits a huge dynamic range. Based on dynamics shaping, a combined precoding/shaping technique introduced in [3], a new shaping strategy is developed in this paper. This technique enables a flexible trade-off between (i) reduction of the average transmit power, (ii) avoidance of peaks in the transmit signal in order to facilitate line driver implementation, and (iii) restriction of the maximum amplitude at the receiver side to a prescribed value. Over a wide range, all three demands can be met simultaneously. As the scheme is fully compatible with Tomlinson-Harashima precoding, it can replace the precoder even in existing and standardized schemes. Simulation results for a typical DSL scenario show the achievable gains.

Signal shaping for peak-power and dynamics reduction in transmission schemes employing precoding

A Novel Approach to Reduce PAPR in OFDM Using combined DCT Precoding Technique and Clipping Method

One of the major drawbacks in Orthogonal Frequency Division multiplexing(OFDM) is high Peak to Average Ratio (PAPR).Reducing PAPR will not only reduces the complexity of Digital to Analog and Analog to Digital converters but also increases the efficiency of High Power Amplifiers (HPA). In this paper a combination of precoding technique (DCT) and clipping technique has been proposed for PAPR red...

Performance Improvement of Ofdm System Using Papr Reduction

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals have a generic problem of high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) which is defined as the ratio of the peak power to the average power of the OFDM signal. The drawback of the high PAPR is that the dynamic range of the power amplifier and digital-to-analog converter during the transmission and reception of the signal is higher. As a resul...

Reduction in Peak to Average Power Ratio of Ofdm Signals through -law Companding Technique

Orthogonal frequency Division multiplexing (OFDM) is the most familiar word in telecommunication and wireless communication systems as it provides enhanced spectral efficiency than Frequency division multiplexing (FDM).Although it is sustaining an orthogonal relation betweencarriers but high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) is one of the main disadvantages of OFDM system.Various PAPR reductio...

Extending the Radar Dynamic Range using Adaptive Pulse Compression

The matched filter in the radar receiver is only adapted to the transmitted signal version and its output will be wasted due to non-matching with the received signal from the environment. The sidelobes amplitude of the matched filter output in pulse compression radars are dependent on the transmitted coded waveforms that extended as much as the length of the code on both sides of the target loc...
